NEW DELHI – Wheat prices rose in key wholesale markets of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, today due to increased domestic demand. Maize prices were also higher in Purnea, a major market in Bihar, due to decline in supply, market participants said.

* Prices of mill-quality WHEAT rose in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, due to pick up in demand from flour millers and stockists, said local trader NK Agarwal.

* Arrivals were pegged at 5,000 bags, down 1,000 bags from Friday. Arrivals are lower as farmers are busy sowing other crops like paddy and soybean," Agarwal said.

* Prices of mill-quality wheat were flat in Kota, Rajasthan, due to unchanged demand and supply, said local trader Chander Khandelwal.

* Arrivals were pegged at 5,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), unchanged from the previous trading day.

* Today, prices of MAIZE rose in Purnea, Bihar, due to fall in arrivals, said Kanhaiya Rastogi, a local dealer.

* Arrivals were pegged at 22,500 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), down 7,500 bags from the previous day. Arrivals are likely to reduce more in the coming days as markets are nearing the lean season.

* Maize prices were steady in Davanagere, Karnataka. Arrivals were pegged steady at 1,000 bags, said local trader Shiva Kumar.

* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
