NEW DELHI – Prices of wheat rose in Kota, a key market in Rajasthan, due to strong bulk demand, local trader Aniket Mehta said. However, the rise in prices was limited because of higher arrivals, he said. Prices of maize, too, rose in Davanagere, while prices in Nizamabad were unavailable as the market was shut on account of Ram Navami.

* In Kota, arrivals were pegged higher at 70,000 bags (1 bag = 100 kg), compared with 60,000 bags on Monday, traders said.

* "Demand is expected to be firm ahead of COVID-19 restrictions across the country. WHEAT prices are likely to rise due to strong demand following supply disruptions," Mehta said.

* Wheat prices in the benchmark Indore market were unavailable as the market was shut due to COVID-related curbs. It will resume operations from Monday, said traders.

* Prices of MAIZE in Davanagere, a key market in Karnataka, rose due to strong domestic demand. Prices could rise further over the next few days as demand is seen firming up with traders anticipating lower production this year.

* The Nizamabad market will also remain closed on Wednesday on the occasion of Ram Navami. It will esume operations from Thursday.

* BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA prices were largely unchanged across markets, traders said.
