India Grain: Kota wheat rises on surge in demand, Davanagere maize dn

NEW DELHI – Prices of wheat rose today in the key wholesale markets of Kota, Rajasthan, due to higher demand and a sharp drop in arrivals, while prices of maize fell in Davanagere, Karnataka, market participants said.

 

* Prices of mill-quality WHEAT rose in the wholesale markets of Kota due to robust demand in the domestic market, said Aniket Mehta, a local trader. Arrivals fell to 3,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg) from 8,000 bags on Wednesday, supporting prices.

 

* Prices of mill-quality wheat were stable in the key wholesale markets of Indore, said N.K. Agarwal, a local trader. Arrivals were pegged at 5,000 bags, unchanged from the previous trading day.

 

* Prices of MAIZE in Davanagere, a major market in Karnataka, fell for the second consecutive day today due to low demand from stockists, said Shiva Kumar, a local trader. Arrivals were pegged at 12,000 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), down 8,000 bags from the previous trading day. 

 

* Prices of maize in the key wholesale market of Purnea, Bihar, were flat. Arrivals were pegged steady from Wednesday at 7,500 bags, local dealer Kanhaiya Rastogi said.

 

* Prices of BASMATI 1121 RICE were stable, traders said.
