NEW DELHI – Prices of maize rose in Purnea, Bihar, as demand from the poultry sector increased, while prices of wheat were unavailable as most mandis were shut and auctions were not held post Diwali, traders said.
* In Purnea, prices of MAIZE rose today as demand from the poultry feed manufacturers increased. Arrivals were pegged at 15,000 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), up 3,000 bags from Friday, local dealer Kanhaiya Rastogi said.
* On the other hand, prices of maize were unavailable in Davanagere, Karnataka, as auctions were not held today, said Shiva Kumar, a local trader. Markets in Davanagere will reopen on Thursday.
* Prices of mill-quality WHEAT in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and Kota, Rajasthan, were unavailable today because key wholesale markets were shut for Diwali festivities, traders said.
* The markets in Indore will resume trade on Saturday, while in Kota trade is expected to resume on Friday.
* Prices of BASMATI 1121 RICE were stable today, traders said.
