NEW DELHI – Prices of wheat was unavailable in key wholesale markets of India today as mandis were shut ON ACCOUNT OF RAKSHA BANDHAN, while that of maize was stable across key wholesale markets, traders said.
* Prices of MAIZE were flat in Davanagere, Karnataka, due to unchanged demand and steady supply, a local trader Shiva Kumar said.
* Arrivals were steady at 1,000 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), Kumar added.
* In Purnea, a key spot market in Bihar, prices of MAIZE were steady due low demand from poultry sector amid a fall in supply, a local trader Kanhaiya Rastogi said.
* Arrivals were estimated at 15,000 bags, compared with 18,750 bags from Wednesday.
* Prices of BASMATI 1121 RICE were stable today because of steady demand from bulk buyers, traders said.
* Prices of mill quality WHEAT in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and Kota, Rajasthan, were unavailable as key wholesale markets were shut today on account of Raksha Bandhan, traders said.
* Markets will resume trade from Friday.
