NEW DELHI – Prices of wheat fell in key wholesale markets of Kota today, due to high supply. Maize prices rose in Purnea, Bihar, due to high demand for poultry, market participants said.
* Prices of mill-quality WHEAT fell in Kota, Rajasthan, due to pressure on arrivals in spot markets, local trader Chander Khandelwal said.
* "Supply rose in spot markets as private traders sold wheat lying at Indian ports after the wheat export ban," he added.
* Arrivals were pegged at 15,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up 3,000 bags from the previous trading day.
* Prices of mill-quality wheat were steady in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Arrivals were pegged steady at 10,000 bags, local trader N.K. Agarwal said.
* Prices of MAIZE rose slightly in the key market of Purnea, Bihar, due to high demand from poultry feed manufactures and millers, local dealer Kanhaiya Rastogi said.
* Arrivals were pegged at 67,500 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), down 7,500 bags from the previous day.
* Prices of maize were flat in Davanagere, a major market in Karnataka. Arrivals were stable at 1,000 bags, local trader Shiva Kumar said.
* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
