Wheat procurement by Food Corp of India is likely to rise from the previous year but may fall short of the 30-32 mln tn target set for the 2024-25 (Apr-Mar) rabi marketing season, a government official told Informist. The procurement started a month early this year and is likely to close by the first week of June. Last year, the government had bought 26.2 mln tn wheat against the target of 34.2 mln tn.
