Pulses body says 30,550 tn cargoes arrive at Chennai port Apr 21-30

MUMBAI – India Pulses and Grains Association said 30,550 tn of pulses arrived at Chennai port between Apr 21 and Apr 30. These were imported into the country through 1,222 containers, the pulses body said in a market update, quoting Chennai's S.I.P. Dhanasekaran & Co, which specialises in import clearance of agricultural commodities, especially pulses.

India imported a total of 15,775 tn urad and 7,125 tn tur from Myanmar, the association said. Urad and tur together accounted for 75% of 30,550 tn of pulses imported at Chennai port during the period. Tur imports from Mozambique at Chennai were 5,025 tn.

Other arrivals of pulses at Chennai port during the period included tur from Malawi, masur from the US and Australia, chickpea and rajma from Myanmar, and yellow peas from Canada. End
