MUMBAI – India Pulses and Grains Association said 21,550 tn of pulses arrived at Chennai port between May 1 and May 8. These were imported into the country through 862 containers, the pulses body said in a market update, quoting Chennai's S.I.P. Dhanasekaran & Co, which specialises in import clearance of agricultural commodities, especially pulses.
India imported a total of 10,725 tn urad and 3,300 tn tur from Myanmar, the association said. Urad and tur together accounted for almost half of 21,550 tn of pulses imported at Chennai port during the period. Tur imports from Mozambique at Chennai were 4,150 tn.
Arrivals of other pulses at Chennai port during the period included tur from Malawi, Tanzania and Kenya and masur from the US and Canada. End
