MUMBAI – Eternal Ltd. on Thursday said its food delivery unit's Chief Executive Officer, Rakesh Ranjan, has not tendered his resignation and continues to be a part of the company's leadership team. The company issued this clarification after The Economics Times newspaper on Thursday reported that Ranjan is stepping down as CEO of Zomato and its parent company's co-founder Deepinder Goyal is set to replace him.

"At Eternal Group, internal reshuffling of the leadership team is considered a standard practice as part of the company's ongoing efforts to optimise organisational effectiveness," the company said in an exchange filing. It added that any material development will be communicated to the exchanges in a timely and transparent manner.

News reports earlier claimed Ranjan will step down from his current position as part of a leadership reshuffle that Eternal undertakes every couple of years. Goyal will oversee Eternal's food delivery vertical until a permanent replacement is finalised, the ET report said.

For the quarter ended December, Eternal, then Zomato, had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 590 million on revenues of INR 54.05 billion. On Thursday, shares of the company closed at INR 236.38 on the National Stock Exchange, down 1.2%. End
