MUMBAI - Bajaj Auto Ltd.'s total vehicle sales in February rose 2% on year to 352,071 units against 346,662 units in the same month a year ago. Total domestic sales fell 11% on year to 183,415 units and total exports grew 21% to 168,656 in February, the company said in an exchange filing Monday.
Bajaj Auto's total two-wheeler sales were 299,418 units in February, up 2% from 294,684 units a year ago. In the two-wheeler segment, domestic sales fell 14% on year to 146,138 units, while exports rose 23% to 153,280 units. The company's total commercial vehicle sales rose 1% on year to 52,653 units. In the commercial vehicle segment, domestic sales rose 3% to 37,277 units, and exports down 2% to 15,376 units.
Cumulatively for Apr-Feb, the company sold a total of 4.28 million units, up 7% from 3.99 million units sold in the year-ago period. The total domestic sales for this period rose 3% on year to 2.56 million units and total exports grew 15% on year to 1.71 million units. Bajaj Auto's total two-wheeler sales for Apr-Nov rose 7% on year to 3.67 million units. Domestic two-wheeler sales were 2.12 million units, up 3% on year, and exports were 1.54 million units, up 15% on year.
The company's total commercial vehicle sales in Apr-Feb rose 8% on year to 614,566 units. The company reported domestic sales of 441,621 units of commercial vehicles for Apr-Feb, up 3% on year, and exports of 172,945 units, up 20% on year. Bajaj Auto's net profit for the December qaurter was INR 21.09 billion on revenue of INR 128.07 billion.
At 1032 IST, shares of the company traded 0.8% lower at INR 7,841.10 on the National Stock Exchange. End
