HYDERABAD – Eicher Motors Ltd. Thursday reported a healthy growth for the June quarter on a year-on-year basis, led by growth in motorcycles and commercial vehicles. Eicher Motors' consolidated net profit for the June quarter was up 9.42% on year to INR 12.05 billion. The net profit was higher than the analysts' estimates of INR 11.37 billion but the net profit growth was lower than the last two quarters. Quarter-on-quarter, the bottom line fell 11.52%.

The company's revenue from operations rose nearly 15% on year to INR 50.42 billion and the growth was lower than the last two quarters. The top line fell nearly 4% from the trailing quarter. For the June quarter, Eicher Motors reported a 9.7% growth in its commercial vehicle sales to 21.160 units. The company's motorcycle sales for the quarter were up by 17% on year to 265,528 units.

The company's June quarter earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation were up 3.2% on year to INR 12.03 billion. Total expenses rose nearly 19% on year to INR 40.52 billion and the other expenses rose 26% to INR 6.52 billion. The raw material costs were up nearly 17% to INR 27.34 billion and finance costs were up 21.4% to INR 149 million. The tax outgo for the quarter is up by 14% on year to INR 3.87 billion. Eicher Motors other income for June quarter is up by 58.21% on year to INR 4.5 billion.

Eicher Motors said the growth in the June quarter was led by Royal Enfield motorcycles and commercial vehicles.

"We continue to build consistent momentum in volumes, profitability, and the strength of our overall portfolio. At Royal Enfield, we have sustained our growth momentum in the first quarter, anchored by our continued focus on product innovation, immersive riding experiences, and a deeper expression of pure motorcycling," Eicher Motors said in a press release, quoting B. Govindarajan, managing director and chief executive officer.

The refreshed Royal Enfield model Hunter-350 continues to be a key marker of growth for the company, both in terms of volumes and community engagement, the company said. Eicher Motor makes Royal Enfield motorcycles and Eicher trucks and buses, and has a joint venture with Volvo Group, VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd, which sells commercial vehicles. On Thursday, shares of Eicher Motors ended at INR 5,468.50 on the National Stock Exchange, down 0.2% from their previous close. End
