NEW DELHI – Rajya Sabha member and senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh on Monday announced that the Municipal Corp. of Delhi has decided to waive house tax. Addressing a press conference along with Mayor Mahesh Khinchi and Deputy Mayor Ravinder Bhardwaj, Singh said that those who clear their house tax dues for 2024-25 would have all previous pending taxes waived.
Singh said that homeowners of properties up to 100 square yards would get a 100% tax waiver, while those with properties between 100 and 500 square yards would receive a 50% tax waiver. He said that commercial rehabilitation would also get the benefit.
Singh said that the benefits would also pass on to residents of over 1,300 housing apartments. Housing apartments would get a 25% tax reduction, he said.
According to a document available on the website of Municipal Corp. of Delhi, the house tax rate ranges from 7% to 12% in different sectors and is calculated on the basis of multiple factors such as age of property and use of property. End
