NEW DELHI – The price of maize in Purnea and Davanagere were up today, and that of wheat in Indore rose marginally, traders said.

* WHEAT prices in Kota, Rajasthan, were steady today, traders said. Arrivals of the grain were lower as farmers were offloading more stocks of the new soybean crop due to the peak arrivals season, a local trader Aniket Mehta said. 

* Arrivals of wheat were pegged at 6,750 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), compared with 8,000 bags on Monday.  

* A sharp rise in prices of wheat in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, was capped today because of an increase in arrivals. Arrivals rose to 2,500 bags (1 bag = 100 kg), compared to 2,000 bags on Monday, on the back of good demand for the crop, a local trader N.K. Agarwal said.

* Despite low demand due to higher moisture content in the crop, MAIZE prices in Davanagere rose today on the back of lower arrivals. Today, arrivals fell to 3,000 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), compared to 10,000 bags on Monday, since the market reopened on Monday after four days, a local trader Shiv Kumar said.

* Maize prices in Bihar's Purnea also gained due to lower arrivals amid heavy rainfall in the state, said trader Ghanshyam Yadav. Arrivals halved to 7,500 bags (1 bag = 65 kg) today.

* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
