India Grain: Maize up in Purnea on poultry feed demand, wheat steady

NEW DELHI – Prices of maize rose marginally in Purnea, Bihar, due of firm demand from poultry feed manufacturers, while prices of wheat were steady across major markets in the country, said market participants.


* Prices of MAIZE rose slightly in Purnea due to firm demand from poultry feed manufacturers, local dealer Kanhaiya Rastogi said.

 

* Arrivals in Purnea were pegged at 22,500 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), down 7,500 bags from Wednesday.

 

* Prices of maize in Davanagere, a major market in Karnataka, were flat.

 

* Arrivals were estimated at 1,000 bags, unchanged from the previous day, local trader Shiva Kumar said.

 

* Prices of mill-quality WHEAT were flat in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, despite increase in arrivals, local trader N.K. Agarwal said.

 

* Arrivals were higher as farmers are offloading their stocks due to high prices, traders said.

 

* Arrivals were estimated at 10,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up 4,000 bags from the previous day.

 

* In Kota, Rajasthan, prices of mill-quality wheat were steady, local trader Aniket Mehta said.

 

* Arrivals were pegged at 11,000 bags, down 5,000 bags from Wednesday.

 

* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
