NEW DELHI – Prices of wheat and maize were flat in key wholesale markets across the country today, market participants said.

* Prices of mill-quality WHEAT in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, were largely steady today due to demand-supply parity, said local trader N.K. Agarwal.

* In Indore, arrivals were pegged at 15,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up 11,000 bags from the previous day of trade. Supply increased, as the market reopened today after the weekend.

* Demand from millers increased after prices fell post the government's decision to ban wheat exports, Agarwal added.

* In Kota, Rajasthan, too, prices of wheat were flat today. Arrivals were pegged at 30,000 bags, unchanged from the previous day, said local trader Chander Khandelwal.

* Prices of MAIZE remained unchanged in Purnea, Bihar, due to weak demand, according to local dealer Kanhaiya Rastogi.

* Arrivals were lower at 112,500 bags (1 bag = 65 kg) compared with 135,000 bags on Saturday. Arrivals fell as rain disrupted supply in Purnea.

* Prices of maize in Davanagere, a major market in Karnataka, were also stable due to demand-supply parity, said local trader Shiva Kumar.

* In Davanagere, arrivals were pegged at 1,000 bags, up 700 bags from the previous day.

* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
