NEW DELHI – Wheat prices rose today in the key wholesale market of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, because of increased demand from bulk buyers. Maize prices were up in Purnea, Bihar, on high demand from stockists, market participants said.
* Prices of mill-quality WHEAT were up in Indore due to rise in demand from bulk buyers, local trader N.K. Agarwal said.
* Arrivals in Indore were unchanged at 10,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg). Market was closed Wednesday on account of Mahesh Navami, traders said.
* Prices of wheat were flat in Kota, Rajasthan. Arrivals were pegged at 17,000 bags, up 2,000 bags from Wednesday, local trader Chander Khandelwal said.
* Prices of MAIZE rose in Purnea due to high demand from stockists and millers, local dealer Kanhaiya Rastogi said.
* In Purnea, arrivals were steady at 75,000 bags (1 bag = 65 kg).
* Prices of maize were flat in Davanagere, a major market in Karnataka, local trader Shiva Kumar said.
* In Davanagere, arrivals were pegged at 1,200 bags, up 200 bags from the previous day.
* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
