NEW DELHI – The prices of maize rose in Karnataka's Davanagere due to firm demand, while those of wheat were unchanged across major markets of the country.

* Prices of MAIZE were steady in Purnea, Bihar, said Kanhaiya Rastogi, a local dealer.

* Arrivals were pegged lower at 30,000 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), compared with 45,000 bags on Thursday.

* Arrivals were lower because of rains in Bihar, which prevented farmers from bringing supplies to the market in large quantities, Rastogi said.

* Prices of maize rose in Davanagere, a major market in Karnataka, because of firm demand from poultry feed manufactures and millers, said a local trader Shiva Kumar. Arrivals were pegged steady at 1,000 bags.

* Prices of mill-quality WHEAT were unchanged in Kota, Rajasthan, said Chander Khandelwal, a local trader.

* Arrivals were pegged steady at 6,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg).

* Prices of mill-quality wheat were steady in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, said local trader N.K. Aggarwal.

* Arrivals were pegged at 8,000 bags, unchanged from the previous trading day.

* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
