The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall over parts of Karnataka Tuesday and Wednesday, and over parts of Konkan Wednesday. A red alert indicates rainfall over 204.4 millimetres in 24 hours. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely over parts of south India till Sunday, the department said.
