NEW DELHI – Despatches of Royal Enfield motorcycles by Eicher Motors Ltd. grew 55% on year and over 29% on month to 114,002 units in August, the company said in an exchange filing on Monday. This is the strongest year-on-year growth registered by the company in a month, since October 2022 when despatches had grown 86%.

Wholesale sales of its motorcycles were largely driven by robust growth in its entry-level variants. The company sold 98,631 models with an engine capacity of up to 350 cubic centimetres in August, 61% more than the 61,087 units sold last year. "Our performance in August reflects a positive momentum as we step into the festive season, which traditionally drives strong demand in the domestic market," said B. Govindarajan, managing director of Eicher Motors and chief executive officer of Royal Enfield.

Premium variants with engines having a capacity of over 350cc registered wholesale sales growth of 23% on year to 15,371 units. Eicher Motors exported 11,126 Royal Enfield-branded motorcycles in August, up 39% on year.

The company despatched 467,575 motorcycles in Apr-Aug, up 27% on year. Of this, exports contributed 59,666 units, which grew 64% on year.

For the June quarter, it reported a consolidated net profit of 12.05 billion on revenues of INR 50.42 billion. At 1433 IST, its shares traded 2.9% higher on the National Stock Exchange at INR 6,281. End
