MUMBAI – Schaeffler India Ltd. is expected to report double-digit growth in net profit and revenue for the September quarter, supported by growth in automotive technologies and other segments. However, high operating costs are likely to weigh on margins, according to brokerages tracking the company.

The company is expected to report a consolidated net profit of INR 3.14 billion for the September quarter, according to the average of estimates from five brokerages. This will be up 18% on year and up nearly 5% sequentially. The highest estimate for net profit is INR 3.50 billion from Mirae Asset Sharekhan Ltd. and the lowest is INR 3.30 billion from 360 ONE Capital Market Pvt. Ltd.

Schaeffler India is expected to report net sales of INR 28.07 billion, up over 15% on year, according to the average of estimates. On a sequential basis, net sales are expected to rise almost 2%. The highest estimate for net sales is INR 28.35 billion from Nuvama Wealth Management Ltd. and the lowest is INR 27.55 from Equirus Securities Pvt. Ltd.

The rise in the company's revenue for the reporting quarter will be led by a 16% on-year growth in the automotive technologies segment and also driven by a rise in new orders, according to Kotak Securities Ltd. and Equirus Securities. Revenue from this segment accounts for 34% of the company's total revenues, Kotak said.

Brokerages expect 10-17% on-year growth in the company's auto and industrial bearings segment and export segment. The automotive aftermarket segment is expected to show 13% on year growth. Meanwhile, Mirae Asset expects elevated commodity prices and logistical problems to hamper revenue growth.

Schaeffler India's earnings before interest, tax depreciation, and amortisation are seen between INR 5.09 billion and INR 5.17 billion, according to three estimates. The highest estimate for EBITDA is from Nuvama and the lowest estimates is from Equirus Securities.

Most brokerage expect the company's EBITDA margin to shrink due to high operating costs, Nuvama said. However, Equirus Securities expects the company's EBITDA margin to improve sequentially by 40 basis points. The brokerage expects price adjustments linked to foreign exchange and steel costs to support margins. Higher freight expenses and a roughly 10% increase in wage costs will partly offset this benefit.

Schaeffler India Ltd. is a subsidiary of German Schaeffler group. The company develops, manufactures, and distributes high-precision roller and ball bearings, engine systems and transmission components, chassis applications, and clutch systems.

The company will announce its September quarter earnings Tuesday. Looking forward, Nuvama expects the automobile sector to benefit from healthy demand and new vehicle launches. The trend in demand and new order wins remain the key factor to watch, the brokerage said. For Schaeffler India, a recovery in industrial demand will be important to track, Equirus said. This recovery matters particularly in the wind energy and railways segments. Export growth and the ability to pass on higher input costs to customers will also be important factors.

At 1406 IST, shares of Schaeffler India traded almost 1% higher at INR 3,502.20 apiece on the National Stock Exchange. The shares are down over 14% since the company announced its June quarter earnings.

The only brokerage report on the company available with Informist has a "buy" recommendation on the stock with a target price of INR 5,000 apiece, which is 43% higher than the current market price.
