Centre OKs INR 46.46 bln for 9 states for mitigation, recovery projects

NEW DELHI – A high-level committee under Home Minister Amit Shah has approved an outlay of INR 46.46 billion from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund for nine states for multiple mitigation, recovery and reconstruction projects, the government said in a release Wednesday. The committee also includes Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.  

 

The beneficiary states include Assam, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Andhra Pradesh. This additional assistance is over and above the funds released by the Centre to states from the State Disaster Response Fund, the release said.

 

During the current financial year, the central government has released INR 135.79 billion to 27 states from the State Disaster Response Fund and INR 20.24.04 billion to 12 states from the National Disaster Response Fund, according to the release.  End
