MUMBAI – Fabless semiconductor maker L&T Semicondutor Technologies Ltd. and Tata Electronics Pvt. Ltd. have signed a partnership to boost the indigenous manufacture of "market-leading" chip products in India for global customers, the two companies said in a statement Friday. Both companies will explore chip fabrication and packaging opportunities, alongside chip design to fabrication optimisation.

 

"Our engagement with Tata Electronics is a decisive step in building those capabilities, ensuring that the next generation of semiconductor products can be designed in India and delivered to global markets with speed, reliability and scale," L&T Semiconductor's Chief Executive Sandeep Kumar said in a statement. L&T Semiconductor is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro while Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd. is the holding company of Tata Electronics.

 

"Our partnership with LTSCT (L&T Semiconductor) is a significant step which will accelerate India's vision of becoming a full-stack semiconductor nation, by combining L&T Semiconductor's deep fabless design and engineering expertise with our capabilities across semiconductor manufacturing, packaging and testing," Tata Electronics Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Randhir Thakur said.  End
