NEW DELHI - Private sector financing is key to achieve India's goal of Viksit Bharat, Economic Affairs Secretary Anuradha Thakur said Friday. "It needs to be borne in mind that this scale cannot be met solely by government budgets and that private sector financeing will need to play a critical role," she said while speaking at a conference with state finance ministers in New Delhi.
Viksit Bharat 2047 is India's national vision to transform the country into a self-reliant, developed nation by 2047, marking 100 years of independence. "We stand in the moment of time where we hold firm promise to move forward on the already achieved goals, and scale new heights as well," she said. "In this backdrop of partnership on policy issues, on tapping financial sources, and most importantly, on implementation, we can spearhead towards Viksit Bharat decisively."
Recent sovereign rating upgrades for India underscore the economy's strength, improving business climate, and strengthening position in the global investment landscape, Thakur said. Earlier this month, the Japan Credit Rating Agency upgraded India's long-term foreign currency and local currency issuer ratings by one notch from 'BBB+' to 'A-' with a stable outlook. End
