MUMBAI – Adani Airport Holdings Ltd. aims to make revenue from regulated operations, or aero revenues, "irrelevant" by focusing on non-aero and city-side operations, its Chief Executive Officer Arun Bansal said at the 13th SBI Banking & Economics Conclave on Wednesday. "We are working on a strategy to reduce the (revenue from) regulatory charges to a bare minimum...over a period of time, regulatory revenue should be single-digit almost," Bansal said.

The company earned revenue of INR 49.06 billion from the non-aeronautical segment in 2025-26 (Apr-Mar), accounting for almost 39% of its overall revenue, according to its annual report. "By 2030, around 70% (of revenue) will be from non-aero, city-side (operations), 35% maximum will be (from) regulated (business)," Bansal said.

Bansal also touched upon India's stated aim of becoming a global aviation hub, similar to those in West Asia. "This West Asian crisis has opened up the eyes of Indian regulators on our dependence on hubs there to travel to Europe or the US...people suffered," he said, adding that regulators understand the need for changing the regulatory framework to help India become a global aviation hub.

One way for India to do so, Bansal said, is to have a national carrier similar to Singapore, Dubai, or Qatar. "Now the hope is with IndiGo (operated by InterGlobe Aviation Ltd.) and Air India (operated by Tata group) having ordered 1,800 aircraft, once those are delivered by 2032, India has potential to become that hub," Bansal said.

Adani Airport is playing its part by keeping the infrastructure ready, he said. The company operates airports in Ahmedabad, Mangaluru, Lucknow, Jaipur, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai, and Navi Mumbai.

"The airport in Navi Mumbai is prepared and made with that ambition that Navi Mumbai can be a one of the international hubs for India...it can become a hub once one of the Indian carriers has flights going directly from India to Europe or the US for that matter," he said.

Adani Enterprises Ltd. is the holding company of Adani Airport. On Wednesday, shares of Adani Enterprises ended 0.1% lower at INR 2,993 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
