NEW DELHI – The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Friday launched a Digital Connectivity Rating platform to assess the digital connectivity readiness of properties. The platform will make ratings publicly searchable, helping consumers make more informed choices about homes and offices with strong and reliable connectivity, TRAI said in a press release.

The platform will facilitate an end-to-end process for rating the digital connectivity of properties along with a mobile application for testing networks. It will also provide a public interface for consumers to view the properties that are rated for digital connectivity, TRAI said. "It (the platform) brings Property Managers (PMs), registered Digital Connectivity Rating Agency (DCRA) and consumer onto a common digital interface," the regulator added.

Property managers can register their properties in categories of public, government, commercial, private, among others, and submit rating applications, upload the prescribed information and documents, select a registered digital connectivity rating agency, and track the status of their application through the platform. The platform supports the prescribed assessment workflow for both fully built and under-construction properties, TRAI said. After this, registered agencies can undertake assessments, record observations and test results, manage supporting documentation, and complete the rating process in accordance with the prescribed framework, TRAI said.

The platform will enable assessment, report generation, certification, and publication of ratings. Consumers and other stakeholders will be able to search for rated properties, view published ratings, verify the corresponding certificates, and compare properties of interest, TRAI said.

Consumers can search for a rated property by name, certificate identification number, or location. They can view the property's digitally signed rating certificate and verify its authenticity through a quick response code provided on the certificate.

The mobile application will enable authorised agencies to undertake field assessments for in-building digital connectivity measurements, as per the prescribed testing methods, TRAI said. Property information received through the web portal and the assessment data captured through the mobile application will be synchronised with the platform. The application and website will support online payment of applicable rating fees, email and short message service alerts, and will store property records, test results, certificates, and audit logs securely.

TRAI said this will make digital connectivity a visible and verifiable attribute of a rated property and help consumers with connectivity information, based on which they can decide to choose a property before the final purchase or lease.  End
