MUMBAI – MobiKwik has received the Reserve Bank of India's registration to operate as a non-banking financial company through its wholly owned subsidiary, MobiKwik Financial Services Pvt. Ltd., and plans to commence operations over the next three to six months, One Mobikwik Systems Ltd. said in an exchange filing Friday.

The NBFC aims to disburse loans worth INR 50 billion over the next three to four years as it looks to expand its lending business and strengthen its presence in financial services. The RBI's Certificate of Registration follows the central bank's in-principle approval granted in April.

The company plans to offer both secured and unsecured credit to consumers and micro, small and medium enterprises across India. It will initially adopt an asset-light co-lending model in partnership with banks and other NBFCs, it said in the release.

MobiKwik said the NBFC will leverage its existing technology infrastructure, data and analytics capabilities, risk assessment models and collections expertise to support its lending operations. "We are grateful to the RBI for its trust and for granting us the final NBFC registration. This marks an important milestone in MobiKwik's evolution as a full-stack fintech platform," Upasana Taku, co-founder, executive director and chief financial officer of MobiKwik, said in a press release.

Friday, its shares ended at INR 224.82 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, up 2.2% from Thursday.  End
